Pumpkin Saturday

Saturday dawned with the crispy coolness that makes me long for my favorite sweater, a soft blanket, and some hot cider. With all these fall warm fuzzies churning within us, we decided to take advantage of the unusually cool Texas weather and head to a local family owned pumpkin farm. Pumpkins are the epitome of fall for me, so what a way to open this season for us!

Mike in a sweater- doesn't happen very often. He's a polar bear!

We rode a wagon back to the pumpkin patch where the farmer told us that for a small fee, the pumpkins would like to go home with us. They were beautiful pumpkins! Of course each of the kids wanted one of their own. And of course each of them picked the biggest, most expensive pumpkins they could find. Finally they settled for a picture with their faves instead and then chose a tiny one that sufficed.

The farm had several small activities for the kids. There was a playground, a pond full of fish to feed, scarecrows to dress, a hayride, and a fun little barrel ride.

Our three goofballs...I mean scarecrows!

Of course Todd chose the John Deere barrel and Lydia tagged along.

Looks like a lot of fun!

Who knew a farm and some pumpkins could make such a happy bunch.

SOOOOOOooo Cute! I just LOVE the scarecrow picture! I chuckled out loud. You all look so good! Does that mean people are feeling better?
